M2’s Journey

M2 Additive Manufacturing LLC was started in 2018 in Erie, Pennsylvania under the name HPG Industries by Michael Paul, Michael Gibilterra, and Ryan Hutchinson. Originally, HPG was founded by three Penn State Engineers who developed a solution for printing more flexible materials than any other company was capable of.
In early August 2019, Ryan Hutchinson left then HPG Industries.
In late August 2019, M2 Additive tied for first place in the Ben Franklin Technologies Techcelerator@Erie business accelerator program, granting the seed money to start the initial phase prototyping and materials research. Following the Techcelerator, M2 Additive partnered with various regional companies in Erie, such as Penn State Behrend, ExxonMobil Lake Erie Rubber, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Erie Insurance, and the Gannon SBDC to start developing the BeltXTruder.
In September 2020, M2 Additive was awarded the patent for the BeltXTruder, which is the technology to print extremely flexible filaments.

M2 Additive moved to Butler, Pennsylvania in December 2020 after Michael Gibilterra left the company and as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Currently, M2 Additive is still developing the BeltXTruder to improve reliability for larger markets. M2 Additive Offers a full capability 3D Printing Service, Engineering Services, and Consulting services.
